PDFescape Desktop

A bookmark will function as an interactive table of contents for your PDF. The Bookmark management area can be located on the Left Side Panel.

Click Add to create your first entry. You will have created your first Parent to your bookmark family. We recommend you rename your entry to make sure there is no confusion. You can right-click on the Parent to access the ways you can interact with it. Choose Rename.

 

 

You will be able to enter your new name here. Click outside the box to confirm your new name.

 

 

You can set the link to navigate to a specific page.

• Go to the page you want the bookmark to open.
• Right-click on the bookmark and choose Set current as destination.

 

 

The windows will appear asking if you want to set the current page as the destination for the bookmark.

 

 

Click on Yes to finish the configuration.

 

 

If you want to update the destination for the bookmark.

• Right-click on it again and choose Add Action to tell PDFescape where this link should take a user.

 

 

• You will see the Add Action window open. Choose Go To Page.

 

 

Your mouse Icon will change.

• Navigate to a page to create an anchor for this link. You can use the mouse wheel, or jump ahead with the page navigation tools.
• Once you have arrived at the correct page, left-click on that page for PDFescape to create the connection.
• You will see the action appear in the Add Action window.
• Click OK to finish the configuration:

 

 

When you next click on your Parent it will bring you to that page.

You can create Siblings, which are other Parents appearing before or after your original Parent entry.

• To create an additional Parent right-click on your entry and choose Add Before or Add After.

 

 

You will see your new entry appear accordingly:

 

 

You do not have to apply an action to any Parent. You can create subsections appearing under each Parent creating your customized navigation tree.

• Right-click on any Parent and choose the Add Child option.

 

 

You will see the Child appear under the Parent you selected.

 

 

PDFescape Online

In PDFescape Online the bookmark will automatically be linked to the current page.

To create the bookmark:

• Go to the page you want the bookmark to open.
• Click on the View Bookmarks button on the left sidebar.
• Then click on Add at the bottom of the Left Side Panel.

 

 

The Create Bookmark box will appear, prompting you to name the bookmark.

• Enter the name of the bookmark.

 

 

• Click OK to confirm your new name.

 

 

Note: the bookmark name cannot be changed once confirmed.

In PDFescape Online you can also create the Child under each Parent creating your customized navigation tree.

To create a child entry:

• Click on the bookmark you want to use.
• Drag the cursor and move it to the middle of the parent entry.

You will see the red line in the middle of the parent indicating where the Child goes.

• Release the mouse to see the changes.

 

 

To create a subsequent entry. You just need to repeat the same steps, as you did to add the 1st bookmark. You will see the second entry under the first.

 

 

You can rearrange the bookmark as you need:

• Click on the bookmark you want to move.
• Drag the cursor and move the bookmark up or down.

You will see the red line move indicating where the page goes. The line will move as you move your cursor.

• Release the mouse to see the changes.
