PDFescape Desktop
First, you will need to make sure you are in Edit Mode. Click here to open our article describing the different modes in PDFescape.
In the Edit Module, you will find the Highlight feature in the Font section. When you click on it you will be prompted to choose the color you’d like to use when highlighting text.
Once you have chosen your color your mouse icon will change. There will be a plus sign when you are not above text. You'll see a standard cursor when you are able to highlight the text.
When you hold down the left mouse button you will start selecting the text.
When you release your mouse, you will see the highlight.
You can leave a comment in your annotation. Click on the View in the top left corner to go into View Mode. Then select your highlight and a comment box will appear.
Click on the X in the upper right corner of the comment box to close it.
You can change the appearance or content of your highlight at any time. While in Edit Mode you can click on your markup to select it. Then choose the Properties icon. Click on Name or Subject to update those.
In order to delete your highlight, click on Edit in the top left corner to enter Edit Mode. Then right-click on it and choose Remove:
PDFescape Online
Click on the Annotate tab, located in the top-left corner. You will see the Highlight button. Click on this button to start highlighting.
Hold down the left mouse button and drag the cursor over the text you want to highlight.
When you release your mouse button, you will see the highlight.
You can change the properties of the comment box. Right-click on the box and choose Object Properties.
Click on the boxes next to the Author or Subject to update those.
Check the box next to Locked to prevent others from making changes to your comment.
You can copy the highlight. Right-click on it and choose Duplicate to paste it. The new highlight will appear.
In order to delete your highlight, right-click on it and choose Delete Object.
